Abstract
A gall stone disease appears frequently in surgical patients. Since Karl Langenbuch started conventional open cholecystectomy(OC) in 1882, surgeons have performed open cholecystectomy steadily for a century. In the case of laparoscopic
cholecystectomy(LC), it was started in 1987 by R.Mouret, a french surgeon, and has become increasingly popular in a short time.
During the period of January, 1991, 2000 cases of laparoscopic cholecystectomy and 20000 cases of open cholecystectomy were performed at the department of surgury, Chung Ang university, Seoul, Korea. We have done a retrospective study about age
and
sex
distribution, chief complaint, associated disease, previous operation ultrasonographic findings, oral cholecystogram, operation time, postoperative admission period, transfusion, H-vac removal day, perioperative changes of total bilirubin, SGOT &
SGPT,
comp9lications and reasons of conversion.
@ES The main results are as follows:
@EN 1) LC is more effective therapeutic method than OC in operation time, period of hospitalization.
2) The rate of complication of OC is higher than that of LC.
3) LC procedure produce more elevation of postoperative total bilirubin, SGOT and SGPT level than OC procedure.
